Meet Beckett
"I LOVE everyone I meet and want to greet them with a big kiss. I especially LOVE children and training with my Mom." " Follow Beckett's as he grows up from a puppy to an adult in photos and video: socialization, balance discs, tricks, obedience training and herding. |
Meet Myst![]() Everything I do is FAST..... Some judges love to watch me since I am a little crazy in all the sports I do. I LOVE herding, have finished my obedience titles and now have so much fun with scent work. Of course running on trails is my very favorite sport. |

Video 1: Fun Game for Helping Dog Learn about Obedience Ring PRESSURE
Petra Ford had an interesting Fenzi webinar on Nov. 29th where she talks about all the PRESSURE that dogs encounter in obedience which can affect their performance with things such as recalls, moving stand, straight fronts, not responding to command discriminations, signals, and much more.
This game is a fun way that she introduced to help dogs learn and experience PRESSURE from behind. As with all games they must be FUN, the dog must be HAPPY and ENGAGED and not STRESSED. This video is the very early training I have been doing with Beckett working on helping him experience pressure from behind. There are more pieces to be added such as having a person walk up behind the dog.
Video 2: FUN GAMES for UTILITY SIGNALS & GO OUT Proofing
Myst LOVES FUN... When we were training for her UD AND UDX we played these fun games for SIGNALS and GO OUTS.
NEW JANUARY 1, 2021: PRESSURE IN THE OBEDIENCE RING... See the effects of pressure from the judge in utility directed jumping. Then the games created to help with this pressure. Other games for obedience: signals, command discrimination, backing into pressure, heeling, fronts

Focusing on Positive Training
2020 will be dedicated to POSITIVE TRAINING, health and fitness for your dog.
In 2019 I attended a few obedience shows and matches and was surprised and saddened to see how respected handlers are treating their dogs with harsh corrections in public. It makes me wonder what they do when training alone. Over the 12 years I have been involved in obedience I have seen so many dogs who start out as superstars, with many high in trials, and high scores only to show the results of this harsh treatment in training by getting lower and lower scores, failure to do exercises like scent articles or dropping the dumbbell or article before it is brought to their handler or becoming little lack luster robots. I have been very fortunate to meet and have as my mentor Laura Romanik who has guided me in a positive way to lovely obedience work and specifically heelwork. This video below was taken 1/11/20 of Beckett in Novice at a Show and Go preparing for his first AKC novice shows in a few weeks. Notice his happy tail, his focus and his joy in working with me as his team partner.
